Hemophilia in Women

What is Hemophilia?

An inherited disorder in which the blood does not clot due to insufficient clotting factors. People with this condition experience prolonged bleeding or oozing following an injury, surgery, or a tooth extraction.  In severe cases spontaneous bleeding may occur. Treatment for hemophilia can include oral medications, nasal sprays, and if indicated, IV medications.

Women can be diagnosed with hemophilia. Some carriers have hemophilia symptoms.
